LoveXpress: Support Special Educational Needs (SEN) families

SEEDS’s vision is for families to be whole and restored. In 2021 and 2022, SEEDS funded two programs from LoveXpress Foundation Limited to offer help to the growing community of families with autistic children in Hong Kong. LoveXpress is dedicated to partnering with different sectors of the community, integrating their skills and resources to empower the autistic community. In 2020, the number of newborns with autism went up to 54:1, LoveXpress has reached out to many autistic families, especially grassroots families who expressed their helplessness and exhaustion. In 2021, SEEDS funded their “Pressure Relief Workshops” for 68 SEN and mainstream children and 160 parents. Through STEM and “positive behaviour support” intervention, the workshop assists SEN children in improving their behavioural problems and improving their self-management skills in group activities. Parents also get to relieve stress and develop mutual support groups in the workshop.

As the training cost for autistic children is very expensive and the entire family is under a lot of pressure. In 2022, SEEDS funded a series of “Family-centered Intervention Services” to assist families with SEN needs with family-oriented professional therapy and diverse support services. 30 families received coaching on Husband and Wife relationships and contextual parental skills, and 10 children received professional therapy and intervention for their speech development.
